English Spring Festival couplet

An English Spring Festival couplet posted by a netizen  became hot online in China.

The first line of the couplet is  “Eat Well, Sleep Well, Have Fun Day by Day,” 吃得很好、睡得很好、天天都开心(chī dé hěn hǎo、shuì dé hěn hǎo、tiān tiān dōu kāi xīn) and the second line of the couplet is  “Study Hard, Work Hard, Make Money More and More” 努力学习、努力工作、钱越赚越多(nǔlì xuéxí 、 nǔlì gōngzuò 、 qián yuè zhuàn yuè duō) and the horizontal scroll bearing an inscription is “Geilievable.” 给 力(gěi lì) The couplet sticking on a door is formed together with a big character for “Luck.”好 运(hǎo yùn)

“Geilievable” means something is cool, or cooperative. “Geilievable” is a compounded Chinese word with English alphabet, its original form in pinyin “geili”. It used to be a regional dialect meaning something is cool or supportive. “Gei” means “to give” or “to be given.” “Li” means “ability” “power” or “force.” So all together they mean “to give force (to)” “be capable of.
